A press release put out by the British Post Office announcing that the Government of India has proclaimed October, 1968 to October, 1969 will be the Gandhi Centenary Year and that Postmaster General Stonehouse has decided to issue a special stamp.

GANDHI CENTENARY STAMP

The year October 1968 to October 1969 has been designated by the Government of India as the Gandhi Centenary Year. The Rt. Hon. John Stonehouse, MP, the Postmaster General, has decided to issue a special postage stamp later this year to commemorate the occasion.

It will be the first time for a statesmen from overseas to be commemorated on a British postage stamp.
